  • Next-Generation AI Business Processes: Together, the companies are exploring opportunities to build new generative AI capabilities for RISE with 疯拍传媒 and infuse AI into 疯拍传媒 business processes across industry-specific cloud solutions and line of business applications. Initially, IBM plans to extend AI capabilities across 疯拍传媒鈥檚 portfolio of cloud solutions and applications, all of which are underpinned by 疯拍传媒 Business Technology Platform (疯拍传媒 BTP). This includes RISE with 疯拍传媒, the GROW with 疯拍传媒 solution, financial solutions for the office of the CFO, supply chain management solutions,  solutions for human capital management, 疯拍传媒 Customer Experience solutions and intelligent spend management solutions. IBM also plans to leverage 疯拍传媒 Signavio and 疯拍传媒 Business AI solutions to help define next-generation business processes through a proof-of-concept adoption program.
  • Next-Generation Industry Innovation: IBM and 疯拍传媒 plan to build intelligent industry use cases, enabled by data-driven insights, into end-to-end business processes to fuel next-generation industry innovation. These use cases will initially focus on the industrial manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail, defense, automotive and utilities industries. This includes IBM鈥檚 recent work with 疯拍传媒 to develop new AI solutions for the CPG and retail industries. As part of this initiative, IBM has begun the development of an extensive portfolio of over 100 AI solutions across industry, line-of-business and product delivery. In addition, IBM plans to develop prescriptive industry value maps that define next-generation business processes and opportunities for impact with AI. Clients will be able to access all of these new AI solutions through the global and sites.
  • Next-Generation Platform Architecture and Customer Adoption Approach: Next-generation enterprises require next-generation platform architectures and a modernized approach to customer adoption. Through the Value Generation partnership initiative, IBM intends to provide next-generation reference architectures that enable a clean core approach. To do this, IBM plans to leverage 疯拍传媒 BTP, 疯拍传媒 Signavio and  LeanIX solutions. These new reference architectures will help define standards across data, process, systems and device integration, process orchestration and automation. IBM consultants supporting clients on 疯拍传媒 projects can also leverage IBM Consulting Advantage, IBM鈥檚 AI services platform, and its portfolio of proprietary methods, assets and Assistants to bring more repeatability and consistency to client delivery.  With IBM Consulting Advantage, IBM consultants can transform the way they deliver 疯拍传媒 solutions to boost productivity and mitigate risk by leveraging generative AI to help complete tasks like generation of user stories, test scripts, training and change management content and code creation.
  • Next-Generation Ecosystem Expansion: IBM and 疯拍传媒 plan to partner around their respective employee network groups and 鈥渘ext-gen鈥 communities, such as the business women鈥檚 networks at IBM and 疯拍传媒, the program and the program of 疯拍传媒 and Veterans at IBM to increase the 疯拍传媒 solutions experience in the consulting workforce and develop the next generation of talent. The companies also plan to explore new ways to collaborate on social impact programs, such as training at- risk youth in the IT sector and accelerating the integration of social businesses into global supply chains.
  • watsonx Planned Availability on the Generative AI Hub: IBM Granite Model Series are expected to be accessible for use across 疯拍传媒鈥檚 portfolio of cloud solutions and applications 鈥 which is underpinned by the generative AI hub in 疯拍传媒 AI Core. The generative AI hub facilitates relevant, reliable and responsible business AI and provides instant access to a broad range of large language models (LLMs). This expands on IBM and 疯拍传媒鈥檚 collaboration around . To further highlight watsonx.ai Granite capabilities, IBM Consulting plans to build extensions using the model on the generative AI hub for select customers.

That鈥檚 where Claudio Muruzabal, chief business officer of 疯拍传媒 SE, steps in.

Q: AI is all the rage today, so let鈥檚 start there. What are the biggest opportunities for businesses to use AI?

Muruzabal: Opportunity is everywhere for AI. And it鈥檚 bigger than just automating processes to increase efficiency, which is what was talked about for the longest time. At 疯拍传媒, we鈥檙e seeing how AI can support relevant business processes to instill innovation and competitiveness. While many players in the industry are focused on developing AI engines and large language models, we are focused on accelerating business value through generative AI. I could talk all day about how AI is transforming data analytics and decision-support systems as well as supply chain optimization, predictive maintenance, and HR. Every day we are discovering new opportunities for customers to leapfrog their competition when they combine the power of generative AI with the context of their business data and processes.

AI can solve a lot of problems, but what about the underlying foundational technology stack companies have today? What conversations are you having with businesses about their technology investments?

Early on in our conversations with customers, it鈥檚 important to understand how businesses can set up their core, foundational enterprise technology platform running in the cloud. This is critical to establish a journey of innovation including . Coming back to the foundation, many of our customers have built numerous modifications on top of their core ERP. In order to build a true cloud operating model 鈥 essential to embrace innovation including AI 鈥 it is critical to move to a clean core model. This means that any modification to the ERP functionality offered by 疯拍传媒 is built outside of the core, using extensibility solutions. This is not a technical topic only. Although clean core contributes to the cost-efficient operation of the platform, the true contribution is bringing flexibility and adaptability to the business, converting the cloud operating model into a unique 鈥渋nnovation as a service鈥 platform.

Hannover Messe: What Can AI Do for Manufacturing? /2024/05/hannover-messe-ai-manufacturing/ Thu, 02 May 2024 11:15:00 +0000 /?p=224550 At this year鈥檚 Hannover Messe trade fair, 疯拍传媒 and its partners showed how they are embedding artificial intelligence (AI) in their products to help companies achieve new levels of excellence in manufacturing and other industries.

The glass bottles on the high-speed filling line made quiet clinking sounds as they sped around the bend of the track. The visitors to the 疯拍传媒 booth at the internationally renowned industrial trade fair were waiting for the moment when an optical sensor, using AI support, spotted the bottle that was only three-quarters full and kicked it out of the line and into a defects bay. 鈥淭his system has a capacity of 6,400 bottles per hour,鈥 said a grinning Ben Hughes from 疯拍传媒鈥檚 Solution & Innovation Experience team. 鈥淚n comparison, the original system from our partner can fill 50,000 bottles, but that would be much too loud here at the trade fair booth.鈥

The showcase demonstrated how the cloud-based 疯拍传媒 Digital Manufacturing solution could serve as the process order management system for 疯拍传媒 customers, whether they typically work with a lot size of one or with continuous manufacturing at higher speeds. The purchase order could have come from an 疯拍传媒 S/4HANA system, for instance, and ended here with execution in production. 鈥淲e can see the hardware integration with our own eyes,鈥 said Hughes.

AI was also involved: a camera captured the fill level of each bottle. If it was outside the defined tolerance, the bottle was rejected and this information was sent to the 疯拍传媒 system. A manufacturer could use this data to calculate the production costs for the system and the profitability of every work center, all with AI support. The data from all systems would give experts and management insights into how well the production process was working. This, in turn, would help improve planning.

Hannover Messe 2024 took place from April 22-26. Muhammad Alam paid a visit for the first time in his role as leader of the 疯拍传媒 Product Engineering Board area. A Fleet of Robots Delivers Materials

疯拍传媒鈥檚 鈥淢odular Manufacturing鈥 showcase let visitors witness examples of successful partner collaboration for themselves. It demonstrated a fleet of autonomous transport robots that delivered a variety of parts for a valve from storage to assembly stations. Thanks to the fleet control software with embedded AI from 疯拍传媒 partner , the robots from different manufacturers worked together seamlessly, making autonomous, situational decisions as to which station should assemble or disassemble the parts. The scenario demonstrated that 疯拍传媒 systems can also implement modular production, which is typically used in manufacturing scenarios involving many variants and low to medium product volumes. 疯拍传媒 S/4HANA, 疯拍传媒 Extended Warehouse Management, and 疯拍传媒 Digital Manufacturing were deployed here.

The 鈥淚ndustrial Metaverse鈥 showcase was another big draw. It let visitors to the 疯拍传媒 booth put themselves in the shoes of a systems operator, using VR (virtual reality) glasses to inspect a system virtually, even if the manufacturing was taking place on the opposite side of the globe. The 鈥淚njection Molding Machine鈥 scenario vividly demonstrated how planning and manufacturing dovetail in integrated, agile, made-to-order production, as the machine produced colorful recycled plastic cups for guests at the end of the process.

Other topics at the trade fair included potential uses of digital twin solutions, such as virtual models and real-time simulations, as well as collaboration between people and machines. A summary description of all the presented scenarios is available .

The World鈥檚 Largest Industrial Trade Fair

The guiding theme of Hannover Messe 2024 was 鈥淓nergizing a sustainable industry.鈥 Nearly 4,000 exhibitors from 60 countries presented solutions for a high-performance, sustainable industry. As part of an industrial ecosystem, they showed how carbon neutrality can be achieved through electrification, digitalization, and automation.

Companies from Germany, China, Turkey, the U.S., Italy, and France booked the largest exhibition spaces. Around 1,600 speakers appeared on the venue鈥檚 11 conference stages. This year鈥檚 partner country was Norway.

Under its motto 鈥淏ring out new manufacturing excellence,鈥 疯拍传媒 demonstrated how it is using AI to advance manufacturing processes, among other solutions, at its more than 1,000-square-meter booth in Hall 15. Visitors to 疯拍传媒鈥檚 booth had the opportunity to see 27 product demonstrations and nine interactive showcases. More than 25 疯拍传媒 partners showed the collaboration and variety of potential uses of their solutions, and 35 presentations by experts and customers were featured at the booth.

Preh is a global growth company with five sales locations, six production plants, and a strong market position in the automotive market for human-machine interface and e-mobility systems.

With constant company growth and ever-changing market requirements, the product lifecycle costing at Preh had reached its limits. 鈥淲e are on the way to becoming a 鈧2 billion company and doing product costing without the support of a fully integrated data processing system,鈥 says Harald Bayer, department head of Project Calculation at Preh Group. 鈥淔or our management, it was time to give the calculation of all our new products a new basis.鈥

A Central Database for Product and Project Calculation

鈥淚n the first step, 疯拍传媒 Product Lifecycle Costing was implemented at our headquarters in Germany. Currently, we are doing the global rollout, which includes all business units at all locations and development centers, with the goal to set a common standard with global software,鈥 Bayer says. 鈥淲e want to make it available for all users involved in the product costing process. Therefore, we will train a large part of the entire PDP organization. To support various stakeholders in the most efficient manner, Preh created different apps and layouts within 疯拍传媒 Product Lifecycle Costing, such as a quality checker that helps avoid errors and increase the quality of the costing result as well as a material price app in which the purchasing department can enter material prices that are automatically transferred into the database. In addition, 疯拍传媒 Services and Support supported the company in developing different reports and an interface to provide up-to-date material prices.

Another partner, , was involved with creating additional reports and analyses and with data modeling, which helped create more transparency thanks to different views.

Increased Transparency Helps Identify Cost Drivers, Optimize Design

In terms of the value Preh gained, 鈥淭he main benefit is transparency,” Bayer says. “We can do analyses and reporting by pushing a button. With that, we know everything about cost drivers and can see the entire product costing. We can easily make comparisons between different calculations and see cost bridges, which was a lot of effort in the past.”

Leveraging the new database, the company can get an easier overview of which parts are used in which project; get up-to-date purchasing price information twice a day; examine calculations and prices of specific years; and make more precise product and project calculations.

From a business perspective, this means:

  • Increased competitiveness, thanks to cost transparency and insight into cost drivers to make better design decisions
  • Quick access to accurate product costing information
  • Major time savings as master data is automatically replicated from 疯拍传媒 ERP, allowing employees to focus on cost improvements

We are excited to unveil two new people profile experiences 鈥 the profile preview and the spotlight view. We are also introducing a new org chart experience with a refreshed look and feel. Available on desktop and mobile, users can explore their organizational structure with improved expand and collapse capabilities, which helps provide full accessibility to an employee鈥檚 profile preview, with an option to open the new spotlight view.

Customers can now automatically process new hires from 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors Recruiting and 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors Onboarding into 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors Employee Central. This capability helps further reduce the time to hire, which is especially important with mass, seasonal, and high-volume hiring.

疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits

With this release, we are pleased to introduce a new benefits enrollment experience for insurance, savings, and pension benefit types. Available on both desktop and mobile, the guided experience for benefits elections can give employees increased convenience with improved navigation and increased confidence with side-by-side plan comparisons and embedded instructional text. Additionally, employees can update dependent information and manage beneficiaries directly from the benefits enrollment process, which helps further streamline the enrollment experience.  

疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors Time Tracking

We are thrilled to share the launch of a new time sheet experience that integrates the latest version of My Timesheet in 疯拍传媒 S/4HANA with 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors. Employees can now record time for payroll, as well as against activities and cost objects, from a single time sheet across applications. This helps organizations leverage real-time connectivity between HR and finance operations to keep track of employee activity and labor costs and to pay employees accurately and on time.

Additionally, a new monthly calendar view for time sheets can give employees and managers a complete picture of recorded time over a month. Users can drill down into specific days and submit or approve time for pay periods beyond a week, such as biweekly or monthly.

For managers, a new time approval center helps simplify approvals with a centralized dashboard highlighting anomalies for swift resolution. Managers can monitor team working hours effectively, helping to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors Onboarding

With enhancements to the onboarding journey experience, new hires can now use the new Your Onboarding Checklist page to reference and complete all tasks 鈥 onboarding data collection, compliance tasks, additional onboarding tasks, and exploring the onboarding guide 鈥 from one place with a single view. Available for new hires, rehires, internal hires, and employees with global assignments, this improved experience can save time for onboarding participants while helping to ensure productivity from the start.

That indicator corresponds with an alert reading 鈥淩isk Score: ! 17,鈥 which warns of a high-risk event disrupting transportation.

On another day, this would be one of many alerts that supply chain logistics professionals see from 疯拍传媒 Business Network鈥檚 logistics collaboration solutions. Unfortunately, on this day there is more to the story than the indicator on the map can tell us.

By now, we鈥檝e all seen photos and videos of the cargo ship Dali striking the Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing a section to collapse into the Patapsco River in Baltimore鈥檚 outer harbor on Tuesday, March 26. They tell the story on a human level.

This event was a terrible tragedy where people lost loved ones. We are also mindful of the thousands of people whose livelihoods have been affected and of the impact this tragedy will have on the City of Baltimore and surrounding areas for years to come. It is a reminder that transportation logistics is not just a routine process of moving goods from point A to point B. It鈥檚 high stakes, dangerous work that we depend on to keep the world鈥檚 economic engine running.

Recovering from the Disruption: Three Scenarios

Another reality to the tragedy is that even as events were unfolding in Baltimore, supply chain and logistics professionals were compelled to act quickly to address a shockwave of related disruptions. As one of my colleagues noted, 鈥淕lobally, companies immediately devoted extra resources to determine what inventory they have at the Port of Baltimore, what鈥檚 on the water headed there, and what鈥檚 leaving their factories that can be rerouted.鈥 Buying organizations looked closely at inbound shipments, while their suppliers were checking how the disruption would impact outbound deliveries.

Increasingly today, buyers and suppliers rely on technology to gain visibility into the global supply chain. This makes it possible to track shipments, reroute them as needed, or take other remedial action. To explain this further, I鈥檇 like to address three port disruption scenarios and how suppliers and buyers can use 疯拍传媒 solutions, including , , and , to recover and be more resilient through adversity.

1. Identifying and Tracking Outbound Shipments Impacted by a Port Closure

When a port is closed, especially unexpectedly, suppliers immediately turn their attention to outbound shipments and their committed delivery dates. Through logistics collaboration on 疯拍传媒 Business Network, suppliers and shippers can receive alerts about high-risk events affecting their shipments. They can also get alerts about deviations from planned or expected estimated deliveries. 疯拍传媒 solutions can generate these alerts based on global risk data from services like and from global positioning and event data from carriers and logistics visibility service providers.

We founded our first company at 17 and, as time went on, we created our first professional application 鈥 a mini ERP system to help photographers with their business. With that, I began to realize the power of technological improvements for businesses and how enterprise software impacts lives in general.

For example, the introduction of low-code/no-code has made application development accessible to everyone in an organization 鈥 with or without a technical background 鈥 to improve experiences for everyone. Just take Dak, the then 12-year-old junior app developer from Massachusetts, who was part of my . The Challenges of Data Siloed in Three Systems

Weber says one of the reasons she joined Convista in 2012 while studying business at university was the high priority its leaders place on trust and transparency, values that permeate the entire organization and empower employees in their work and career development. 鈥淭rust is one of our main values,鈥 she underscores. 鈥淎lso, the trust that people are willing to do their best to get motivated and move the company ahead.鈥

Convista grew quickly both organically and as a result of mergers with other consultancies. In 2019, IT service provider Axxiome Health joined the ConVista Group to deepen the organization鈥檚 expertise in the health insurance sector. In 2021, enowa joined the group, infusing its knowledge of industries and insurance. With the mergers complete, the incipient organization became on January 1, 2023.

Though team members were highly motivated to collaborate from the start, Convista鈥檚 vision for itself as a modern organization was held back in both its daily work for projects and internal services. Using disparate tools based on older technology and a patchwork of third-party solutions that lacked integration proved to be inefficient and unsuitable as a basis for decision-making.

鈥淲henever we wanted to have a report, even something as simple as a headcount, we always had to go into three different systems, collect the data, and report on that,鈥 Weber recalls. 鈥淚t’s just one of the many examples of why we really urgently needed one IT platform.鈥

Project ONE Achieves Milestone Integration

To build a strong foundation for future growth, Convista embarked on 鈥淧roject ONE鈥 with the goal to have one digital platform flexible and powerful enough for the entire organization. For this, it chose 疯拍传媒 S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors solutions with self-service capabilities for employees to log time-off.

Convista鈥檚 project team decided for a phased approach to the implementation by first introducing the 疯拍传媒 solutions in Poland and later in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland 鈥 with 疯拍传媒 S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition planned to launch in the German-speaking countries during the course of 2024. To optimize success, the project team used the combined best practices of Convista and 疯拍传媒 and hosted regular meetings that provided clear communication to steer the project. 鈥淲e were always aligned on the requirements of the other teams,鈥 says Weber, who managed the HR workstream. 鈥淲e all knew the main goal of the implementation. This was helpful for everyone on the project.鈥

In-house experts from Convista certified on 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors solutions contributed valuable knowledge for the implementation. Consultants from 疯拍传媒 Services and Support successfully integrated the cost center replication from 疯拍传媒 S/4HANA Cloud to 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors and the workforce replication from 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors to 疯拍传媒 S/4HANA Cloud, and delivered a detailed administration guide on the integration setup for Convista. Additionally, they provided an overview, the architecture guidance, and the navigation through major hurdles in performing the configuration to set up identity access governence (IAG), identity provisioning service (IPS), and identity authentication services (IAS). The 疯拍传媒 Early Adopter Care program supported Convista for the master data integration (MDI) during the implementation and helped to solve all roadblocks efficiently.

On January 1, 2023, Convista鈥檚 80-person team in Poland was the first to go live with the new 疯拍传媒 solutions. 鈥淚t was really a great experience for them and quite an advancement,鈥 says Weber, citing the benefits of the new solutions that provide optimizations and intuitive workflows. The project took a pivotal turn on January 1, 2024, with the launch of 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors solutions for Convista鈥檚 800 employees in the German-speaking countries.

鈥淭he biggest milestone was to have [疯拍传媒 S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors Employee Central] speaking with each other,鈥 says Weber, who emphasizes how valuable it is for the team 鈥渢o have an end-to-end process within one platform.鈥 With an integrated IT platform in place, she says that it is no longer necessary to do workflows, authorizations, or any other processes in other systems.

The seamless synchronization of data by using a common data model for 疯拍传媒 business applications helps reduce the need for manual data entry and redundant processes. This means, for example, employee data that is maintained in 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors Employee Central is available in real-time in 疯拍传媒 S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition; while master data, like cost center data, flows seamlessly from 疯拍传媒 S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition to 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors Employee Central. Eliminating data silos enables the HR and finance teams to work with consistent, accurate data for all-important employment decisions and legal reporting obligations.

Now Convista鈥檚 team is unified in its brand, values, spirit 鈥 and employee data. 

More Transparency and Intuitive Workflows Are Just the Beginning

Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, according to Weber, with employees speaking favorably about the improved transparency and workflows. 鈥淭he first thing I heard from everyone was, well, this is simple and intuitive. They were so happy about it,鈥 she says. 鈥淭hey are big fans of the mobile application. They find it very transparent and easy to use.鈥

For some colleagues, the new solution lets them view their own data for the first time. 鈥淲hen we went live, everyone was viewing their profile,鈥 says Weber. 鈥淭his was also quite new that you are able to see what data is maintained for your person, your address, but also job information 鈥 to view it and have this transparency. People like this very much and also the ability to have the self-services in 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors.鈥

To strengthen communication between HR and employees, Convista will bring more people processes onto the new digital platform. In fact, the team very recently implemented the 疯拍传媒 SuccessFactors Performance & Goals solution for annual employee appraisals, goal setting, and project feedback. 鈥淚t鈥檚 just the beginning,鈥 Weber says. 鈥淭here鈥檚 still a lot of work ahead of us.鈥

Hinz says, 鈥淲e have been careful to preserve our workplace culture during the transformation. Now that we are rebranded as one organization, we are seeing the benefits of that early effort.
